Confusion in Ekiti: Gov Fayose teargassed, govt house sealed off

Reports from Ekiti State, claim that armed policemen have sealed off the state government house in alleged efforts to prevent a rally by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This was even as photos circulating on social media shows the state governor, Ayodele Fayose, on the ground being resuscitated after he was allegedly teargassed by the armed policemen.

The event took place on Wednesday morning and the policemen it was learnt, had prevented supporters of Governor Fayose from entering the venue of the rally scheduled to hold at the new pavilion located at Fajuyi, which was within the vicinity of the Government House.

In the process, the armed policemen were said to have teargassed the participants to ensure the rally does not hold.

In a tweet this morning on his Twitter handle, Fayose had written, “Heavy shooting now going on in front of Ekiti Govt house by armed policemen brought by the APC (All Progressives Congress).

“This is the entrance to Ekiti Govt House now blocked by gun wielding mobile policemen. The plan is to prevent our victory walk slated for today but we will remain undeterred. Power of God and the people will prevail over Federal Power.”
