EPL panel reduces Ighalo’s goals to 13
Nifemi Daniel
THE Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Panel on Monday awarded the goal scored by Watford striker, Odion Ighalo against Chelsea to Gary Cahill.
Ighalo’s second goal on Saturday December 26 has been credited as a Cahill own goal stating that the Eagles striker’s shot deflected off the England international defender.
As a result, Ighalo’s scoring tally for the season is reduced from 14 to 13 and his total for the 2015 calendar year is cut to 29.
Also, the panel also ruled that the Watford’s strike against Manchester City on Saturday January 2 was scored by Ben Watson.
The midfielder scored direct from a corner, via a slight deflection off Aleksandar Kolarov’s head, to open his goal account for Watford.
