Tinubu arrives N’Assembly for 2025 budget presentation

The National Assembly complex is under heightened security as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prepares to present the 2025 budget to a joint session of lawmakers today.

By 8:00 a.m., senators and members of the House of Representatives were seen arriving at the Green Chamber, where the joint session is scheduled to take place. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen will preside over the session.

This presentation follows the approval by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of an estimated expenditure of ₦47.96 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year on Monday.

The 2025 budget is expected to outline the administration’s plans to sustain ongoing reforms, boost infrastructure development, and address economic challenges.

In preparation for the event, the National Assembly management has implemented strict security protocols. Reinforcements from various security agencies have been deployed around the complex, ensuring that only authorized personnel and accredited attendees gain access.

Business operators and service providers within the premises, including banks and food vendors, have been instructed to suspend operations for the day. Visitors and nonessential staff have also been directed to stay away until after the presentation.

Only essential staff members with proper accreditation and a limited number of journalists will be permitted within the premises.

This will be President Tinubu’s second budget presentation since assuming office. The session is expected to provide insights into the administration’s fiscal priorities for the coming year, with lawmakers from both chambers engaging in subsequent deliberations.

The tightened security underscores the significance of the event, as the administration seeks to chart a clear path for Nigeria’s economic growth and development in 2025.
