Alhassan says Buhari’s not naive to take her support for Atiku in bad fate

The Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, has said that she does not think that President Muhammadu Buhari is a naïve person to take in bad fate her open declaration of support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2019 as president even if Buhari decides to run.

Alhassan, had on Wednesday in an interview she granted BBC Hausa Service, said that she would support Atiku, who she referred to as her godfather in the 2019 presidential elections even if Buhari seeks re-election.

The statement by the minister had continued to garner mounting criticisms by supporters of Buhari and some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, especially on social media.

However, when accosted by State House correspondents in Abuja on Thursday over the statement, the minister said tired of commenting on the issue. She added that she aware of her critics over the matter but said that she will leave them to God.

“Let the will of God be,” she said.
Asked to comment if the comment has affected her relationship with the president, Alhassan said, “How will I know? I have not seen the President but I don’t think the President is a naive person.”

Unperturbed over the possibility of losing her ministerial position because of the statement she said, “God gives and God takes. That is all and I have said it all in Hausa. You know that there is an end to everything.”
