Bayern end bid to sign Arsenal's Sanchez

German champions Bayern Munich have ended their summer bid for Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, the Club chairman tells the media.

This is coming a week after manager Carlo Ancelotti signed Colombia’s James Rodriguez on loan from Real Madrid, as there seems to be no more space in the club’s attack.

“We are no longer involved. We have agreed with our coach that we won’t add (new players) in attack. It wouldn’t make any sense,” Bayern’s chairman Rummenigge told German magazine Kicker.

Bayern had reportedly been vying with Manchester City to sign the 28-year old from Arsenal, but talks on contract extension at the Emirates have been stalling any possible move.

Two days ago, Sanchez was quoted by Chile’s Radio Sport to have said he wants to leave Arsenal for a club featuring in the Champions League in the coming season.

“I have made my decision, but now the decision has to be taken by Arsenal,” Sanchez said.

“It depends on them. I have to wait to know what they want. My idea is to play and win the Champions League. It’s a dream I have had since I was little.”

Arsenal have ended their Australia preseason tour and will head to China. Sanchez is currently on holidays at his home town, and so, is not with his teammates.

The Gunners will play next wednesday in Shanghai against Bayern, who will at the same time be kicking off their pre-season tour of China and Singapore.
