BENUE: Nigerian Army arrests 3 armed herdsmen

Three herdsmen who were planning another deadly attack at Guma Local Government Area of Benue State have been arrested and paraded by the Nigerian Army.

After their arrest, items such as AK-47 rifles, charms, handsets and ammunition were recovered from the herdsmen.

According to the Commandant of 72 Battalion in Makurdi, Benue State, Lt.-Col. Suleiman Mohammed, the herdsmen were captured by troops in the state while they were planning another deadly attack.

He said the herdsmen identified as Abubakar Umaru, Yusuf Yaro and Adam Likita engaged the troops in a fierce gun battle before they were arrested with one of them sustaining injuries.

Mohammed also informed that Boko Haram kingpin, Aminu Yaminu, alias Tashaku is in the custody of the military after he was arrested on Friday.

Mohammed said; “The three (members of) militia paraded were arrested in the Guma area, where they were planning another attack.

“Immediately they sighted the troops, they engaged them in gunfire, but the troops were able to arrest these suspects.”
