In order to alleviate the sufferings of Boko Haram victims, the Borno State government has created a ministry to take care of them.
It is known as Ministry for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement.
Announcing the creation of the new ministry on Wednesday in Maiduguri during the swearing-in of some top government officials, including the commissioners, the state governor, Kashim Shettima said it would be responsible for taking care of the internally displaced people as well as the reconstruction of the affected communities.
The new ministry is to be manned by Dr. Babagana Zulum, who until his appointment was the Rector of the State owned Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri.

According to the governor, Zulum was appointed to head the ministry “because of the manner he prudently initiated and supervised many buildings within Ramat Polytechnic out of passion for development of Borno State.
He added that Zulum had also in the recent past shown his administrative capability by successfully supervising the execution of some public buildings donated to the University of Maiduguri by the state government and all of them were not only delivered in good time but were equally of very high quality despite the use of less resources through direct labour.
