President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshall Mohammed Saliu Usman as the new Chief of Defence Intelligence, CDI.

Usman is taking over from the former Acting CDI, Major General John Saduana Davies, who had been in the position since January, when the former CDI, Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan retired.

Until his appointment, Air Vice Marshal Usman was the Director of Air Intelligence at NAF HQ.
He however served as Director of Intelligence at the Defence Intelligence Agency, DIA, before he was appointed Director of Air Intelligence.

Usman, while speaking when he took over from Davies at the DIA, said he was grateful to God and to President Buhari for the appointment and promised to work in harmony with the services to ensure peace and security for the nation.

“Eight months ago, I was posted from here (DIA), to the NAF headquarters. I never knew that I will come back this way. I have taken it as an act of God. My doors will be open to all and I will be fair to all and I will carry everybody along”, Usman told officers and men of the Agency.
