Eight girls burnt to death in Kenya school dorm fire

Tragedy struck at Moi Girls School Nairobi, when a fire outbreak which started around 10 am claimed the lives of no less than eight students.

According to county commander Japhet Koome, at least 10 students have been listed as missing at the Kenya Red Cross information desk at the school.

Earlier, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i had said 10 other students were injured and are admitted to hospital.

“Out of the 10, two are in critical condition, doctors have told us the other eight are out of danger,” he said.

Matiang’i also revealed that the school has been closed for two weeks as investigations begin to determine the cause of the fire.
