Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has completed a move to Serie A side, Udinese Calcio, from Turkish league outfit, Bursaspor.

He spent just one season with Bursaspor, where he made 32 appearances and scored two goals, following his move from Belgian side, KAA Gent in 2017.

Troost-Ekong was part of the Nigeria squad at the recently-concluded FIFA World Cup in Russia, where he featured in all three games for the Super Eagles.

“Very happy to sign for @UdineseCalcio in the @SerieA !⚫️⚪️ #ForzaUdinese #AleUdin,” Troost-Ekong wrote on his Twitter handle on Friday evening.

Udinese reportedly offered €3.3m for the defender, who the club said “is a player with an important physical structure.”

The club’s technical director, Daniel Prade, added: “He is good in the air, can defend very well and support the attack as well. We talk about an aggressive central defender, strong in contrast and with an excellent game reading: a thoughtful, non-instinctive leader who always tries to play the ball, all characteristics that go very well with the game of our coach.”

Udinese will kick off their season this Sunday when they play away at newly-promoted side, Parma.
