Atiku receives phone call from US Secretary over election

After slain soldier's widow denied receiving call from Atiku, he admits it didn't happen

The United States’ secretary of state, Michael Pompeo has put through a call to the presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar to wish him luck towards a free and fair election.

This call was made barely 48 hours after the former President of the United States, Bill Clinton, made a call to the president and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Muhammadu Buhari to wish Nigeria a successful election.

On his twitter page on Friday, the PDP candidate disclosed that the US secretary reaffirmed the international community’s commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria.

“Earlier today I received a call from US Secretary of State, @SecPompeo, who reaffirmed the international community’s commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria.” He also said that he was, “Wishing you all a peaceful election, wherever you are. God bless Nigeria.”
