Boko Haram will soon be history–FG

Boko Haram may appear to be flexing muscles with its isolated violence in some parts of the North-East but its rank is actually being decimated, the Federal Government has said.

“We are winning the war. We have put machinery in place to meet the presidential deadline handed over to us and we are sure that the nation’s security agencies are up to the task,” the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Ismaila, said on Monday in an interview with journalists on the sideline of the ongoing 70th United Nations General Assembly holding in New York.

He added that with the level of preparedness of the security agencies in the country, the insurgency would definitely be ended within the deadline given to them by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The President gave the armed forces three months deadline expiring in November to end Boko Haram insurgency.

The Permanent Secretary equally expressed optimism that the President Buhari’s participation in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) would attract some benefits to the country.

“The President is attending the UN General Assembly for the first time and he had created a great impact on issues concerning security, trade and investment as well as climate change.

“Nigeria is doing very well and we are very proud that we have a President who is very focused and who world leaders have tremendous confidence in,” he said.
