I was born to be a robber, arrested herdsman says

The Oyo State Police Command paraded two suspected robbers at their premises and when questioned, one of the suspects who is originally a herdsman revealed that he was destined to be a robber.

The suspect Amidu Umoru alongside his partner, Umoru Sanda were arrested after being accused of attacking their victim identified as Kehinde Rafiu along Igangan/Iganna road, via Iwere Ile in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State.

Reports say the suspects beat up the victim with a cudgel when he was accosted before dispossessing him of his money and motorcycle.

Commenting on the matter while the two suspects were paraded, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Leye Oyebade, informed that due to the severity of injuries sustained, the victim gave up the ghost in a hospital where he was taken to.

Recounting the incident, Umoru said the victim was beaten to a state of coma because he resisted their robbery attempt.

“Sanda cut the motorcycle owner with his cutlass and I used the club to beat him. He was seriously injured but not dead. I normally used the club to shepherd cattle. After leaving him for dead, we took his motorcycle away to sell. We were later arrested by members of the Odua Peoples’ Congress who handed us over to the police.”

When probed further as to why he engaged in robbery when he already had a job as a herdsman, Umoru said that he is destined to be a robber.

“I don’t know why I did it. I cannot even ride a motorcycle. I am a herdsman and this is my first time of being arrested or robbing people. Whatever Allah desires must come to past. I think it is my destiny to rob,” he said.
