The Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Alhaji Bello Mahmud has called on the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) to address the issue of double taxation in the country.

The Registrar-General stressed the need to harmonise tax to ensure that people do not suffer double taxation, adding that otherwise it would demoralise paying tax.
He stated that the Institute should work closely with the government to ensure proper public awareness on honest commitment on the part of government to utilise taxes for public good so as to enable the tax payers appreciate the benefits of tax payment, adding that this would contribute to tax payers appreciating the benefits of tax payment and motivate tax evaders to have change of perception.
