The brouhaha at the Assembly followed an attempt by some lawmakers to impeach the Minority Leader, Mohammed Usman Haruna.
One of the lawmakers was said to have signed both for and against the impeachment, explaining that he had to do so because he was forced to sign for the impeachment under duress.
It was learnt that owing to this mix up, the lawmakers were split equally, a situation that made the impeachment move difficult.
In the middle of the confusion, Abubakar was said to have taken the mace, at about 1:12pm, assisted by another lawmaker, Mohammed Bello, from Gombe South state constituency, entered into a car and drove away with it.
