Drop all demands, not only quit notice, Atiku urges Arewa youths

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised the Arewa Youths for withdrawing the October 1 quit notice order to Ndigbo, but said the decision is not worth it should the groups fail to drop all their demands.
The Arewa youths had on Thursday, August 24, announced the withdrawal of the notice, but vowed it would continue to pursue its other listed demands up to the United Nations.

Among the demands that they vowed to continue to pursue include that the Federal Government must label the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist organisation. It also asked that the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu should be re-arrested immediately and sent back to jail.

They are also insisted that a referendum be conducted to allow the Igbos have their “Republic of Biafra”.
But in a statement through his media office in Abuja on Friday, Atiku described the withdrawal of only the quit notice order as “pyrrhic”, a victory that it is tantamount to defeat.

He said, “Reconciliation must be total or else it is pyrrhic.”

Atiku, nonetheless called on other ethnic groupings like the Niger Delta, to also withdraw their counter quit notices.
Arewa youths had argued that the quit notice order was given sequel to the agitation for Biafra by Nnamdi Kanu-led IPOB.
Kanu and his group have remained defiant in their demand and had ordered that there will no longer be any election in the South East until the Federal Government declares referendum for Biafra. He recently rejected claims that he had withdrawn his group’s threat of no election in the South East.

It’s possible he may return to jail after the office of the Attorney General of the Federation wrote an Abuja division of the Federal High Court demanding that the bail granted to Kanu on his alleged treasonable offence be revoked.

For the IPOB, they will find themselves blame if they continue with their stupidity of Biafra

Atiku is a sensible man, if the Arewa youths don’t withdraw all their demands, the October one deadline reversal is useless.

The Arewa youths are illegal, they have no right whatsoever to determine the fate of Igbos. They should not be treated like they are the senate or National Assembly

The Arewa youths are illegal just like the Biafra agitators, that’s enough reason to give them attention. It may not be obvious, but the Arewa youths are the only people who can make Biafran agitators scared

It’s getting to a time where freedom of association will be curtailed drastically.
