HID Awolowo: Security agents take over Ikenne

Armed security agents have been deployed to Ikenne, Ogun State, following the death of Chief Hannah Idowu Dideolu (HID) Awolowo on Saturday.

They include soldiers, Police and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

They were ostensibly there to protect dignitaries who have been trooping to the home of the late matriarch of Awolowo dynasty since the news of her death broke on Saturday.

Among the dignitaries who called to condole with the Awolowo family on Sunday were former Governor of Lagos state and Awo’s disciple, Alh. Lateef Jakande, ex – governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi, former Works Minister, Chief Ebenezer Babatope and leader of the Afenifere Renewal Group(ARG) Wale Oshun.

On Saturday former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Acting Governor of Ogun state, Princess Yetunde Onanuga, Mrs Olufunso Amosun, ex – governor Gbenga Daniel and Secretary to the Ogun state government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa visited the family home.

Many other people have also paid condolence visit.
