Man City thrash Spurs

Premier League leaders, Manchester City marched to their 16th successive league win as they thumped Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

City, who already hold the record of the longest Premier League wins, took the lead when Ilkay Gundogan headed in from Leroy’s Sane’s corner before Kevin de Bruyne smashed home the second 20 minutes to stoppage time.

Raheem Sterling tapped in 10 minutes later to make it 3-0 from Sane’s pass and added his second of the day at the stroke of 90 minutes to make it four for the home side.

Spurs struggled against a dominant City, who would have been five goals up if Gabriel Jesus had not lost a penalty earlier, as they were heading to the end of the game without registering a goal until Christian Eriksen fired in a consolation on 93 minutes.

The Mauricio Pochettino’s men won their last game against Brighton during the week but was no match for City today.

They will be playing again in the league against Burnley next Saturday, while Pep Guardiola will first lead his side to Leicester City on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup quarter-final before hosting Bournemouth in the league next Saturday.
