My rift with Baru: How Nigerians got it wrong --Kachikwu

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, has said that issues he raised in his leaked memo was misunderstood by Nigerians.
.
He also explained that President Muhammadu Buhari has addressed the concerns raised in the memo concerning the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Maikanti Baru, and asked them to work together.

The minister of State stated that Nigerians had misunderstood the points raised by the memo, instead opting for sensationalism around the matter.

Kachikwu had replied “No response” when he was accosted by State House correspondent, who had asked him immediately after the meeting with Buhari to comment on the outcome.

His muteness on what he discussed with Buhari apparently generated a lot of speculations. A recent report by an online portal even claimed that Kachikwu only met one of Buhari’s aide and not Buhari himself when he visited Aso Rock to see the president following his memo against Baru.

But Kachikwu, spoke for the first time on the outcome of the meeting in Owerri, Imo State at the end of a three-day Nigerian Content Workshop event put together by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board.

He denied that his memo had anything to do with fraud.

“The conversation has been largely misunderstood to bother on fraud. It was not on fraud, but on governance and suggestions on ways to go about it. I think a lot of people got it wrong.

“People dwell much on issues of sensationalism and leave the main substance. The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru, and I are working together as Mr. President had directed to move forward.

“Mr. President has urged the two of us to find ways of working together to remove doubt and rift. Mr. President is a decent man and what he wants to achieve in this country is to live a legacy for posterity. He is a sincere leader, so nobody should accuse him of engaging in fraud,” Kachikwu said.
Kachikwu had in his leaked memo accused Baru of insubordination and award of contract of about $25 billion without due process.

They have succeeded in finally dividing the regions of this cOuntry against them selves by their actions? We all come out here acting like we are led as one went we truly know how we feel deep down

Thanks oga Kachukwu removing embarrassment from Buhari led administration as a result of your memo. Please take it as baba as directed. And ensure that you boss Baru from now onward. On no circumstance will Baru byepass you to see Mr. President because you represent a substantial Minister since nobody else is an active Minister in your Ministry. Long live Nigeria. Up Nigeria. Yb

Kachikwu, please stop this cock and bull story. The truth is that you have been whip into line and told to shut. The Press should not be blame for your compromise in a case you passionately and voluntarily wrote the President on the happenings in the NNPC. Why try to look for scapegoat elsewhere? It is you who has undone yourself by not standing by your letter
