Plot by pro-Oshiomhole lawmakers-elect to take over Edo Assembly suffers setback

The Police in Edo State have vacated the Edo State House of Assembly after they laid siege to it in the early hours of the day.

They had stormed the premises with about 24 patrol vehicles loaded with policemen, but left after spending about three hours, during which time the new Speaker, Elizabeth Ative was officially sworn in.

The swearing in was witnessed by virtually all the members of the House, including the impeached speaker, Victor Edoro, and they left the Assembly premises immediately after the exercise.
