2019: People come to me every day saying ‘we want you, even in the North’- Jonathan
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that he receives expressions of support and entreaties every day from people across the country asking him to contest the presidential election so as to return to power, even from northerners.
In an interview with Dele Momodu, Ovation magazine publisher, the former president said he was “always moved to tears whenever I go out and see the huge crowds shouting GEJ, we want you, even in the north”.
Jonathan however ruled out the possibility of returning to office, saying “I’m not God but I sincerely doubt the possibility,” he was quoted to have said.
The former president said, “People come to me every day saying they want me back. I’m always moved to tears whenever I go out and see the huge crowds shouting GEJ, we want you, even in the North.
“Instead of getting swollen headed, I actually reflect on my achievements and mistakes and feel humbled and feel very sober…
“I have never been a man of inordinate ambition. I’m a man of very modest means. I hardly travel because of the logistical costs. I’ve played my part and I have moved on.”
Asked what he would do if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gave him the 2019 ticket, he said, “Are you not aware that our party has zoned the presidency to the north, and the chairmanship to the south?
“Even Fayose that has declared his interest may face big challenges because of the decision of our party.”

Those saying they want jonathan are only doing that to console him, inasmuch as they want Jonathan, they don’t want him to rule the country. We all need to wake up above mediocrity and realize Jonathan is too soft to handle Nigeria

All these people saying they want Jonathan are fools, they had the opportunity to retain him in power in 2015, they all voted against him. Now that they’ve suffered in Buhari and APC’s hands they are shouting they want Jonathan. Jonathan who was hated deeply is now the person they want to return to power, but it is now very unfortunate for them, PDP will not give jonathan ticket for 2019

Jonathan is prudently and styliciously telling the pdp to grant him automatic ticket as the sole flag bearer of the pdp presidential aspirant but he is on a very long thing
