'Biafra, Buhari and the 'Soft' civil war' - Femi Fani Kayode

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has wondered aloud how President Muhammadu Buhari, who failed to visit Benue when 73 persons where killed in the state by suspected Fulani Herdsmen, would want to visit Nasarawa to condole with herdsmen who allegedly lost 40 cows in the state.

The state governor, Umaru Al-Makura had on Friday hinted that arrangements have been concluded for the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state on Tuesday February 6.

He had said in Lafia while receiving reports of a fact finding and investigative committee set up to look into the activities of tertiary institutions in the state from 2014 to 2017, “I am happy to announce that Mr. President has graciously accepted to visit Nasarawa State on February 6.”

The governor’s Special Adviser on Youths, Students and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs), Mr. Samuel Akala, had also at the weekend claimed that Buhari’s visit will quench tension and ensure that peace returned between farmers and herdsmen in the state.

“Though the visit is not because of the crisis but I think the visit will bring some lasting solutions if the president steps his feet in Nasarawa,” he had said.

But reacting on Buhari’s planned visit to Nasarawa State, Fani-Kayode said on a post on his twitter handle, “73 innocent and precious souls are slaughtered in Benue by Fulani herdsmen and Buhari refuses to visit the state to commiserate with its people. 40 cows are butchered in Nassarawa and Buhari insists on going there to express his condolences to Fulani herdsmen and Miyetti Allah!”
