Controversial streethop singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, was granted bail by the Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, on Thursday.

Having been charged with five counts, Portable was given N2 million bail with two sureties who must be licensed bondmen registered with the Ogun State government.

In the five counts that were brought against him, Portable, who was accused of conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction, carrying a gun and cutlass, and conduct likely to create a breach of peace, entered a not guilty plea when he was arraigned in court.

After pleading not guilty to the accusations against him, the singer’s lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, said the suspect “is now remorseful and has learned his lessons.” He also asked the court to grant his client bail.

Magistrate O L. Oke adjourned the case until March 5, 2025, for a follow-up hearing after granting Portable ₦2 million bail with one surety in the same amount.

Recall that the Ogun State Police Command officially declared Portable wanted for an alleged attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development while carrying out their lawful duties.

The wanted circular was issued on Monday by Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who claimed that Portable had led thugs to violently attack three government officials on February 5.

Odutola claimed that the musician and his associates attacked the officials, TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, while they were conducting an enforcement exercise at his bar in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Sango Ota, when they came across an elderly man who was later identified as Portable’s father.

According to the police spokesperson’s statement, Portable has been evading arrest since the incident, even after being invited several times to appear before the police.
