It was a bad weekend for Joel Obi and Efe Ambrose, after being red carded while in action for their respective clubs at the weekend.

Obi who is trying to revive his career with Torino was given a straight red card in the 89th minute after an awkward challenge on Palermo player.

However, Torino still managed to beat their visitors 2-1. Ambrose was not lucky as he was also sent off in the final minute of Celtic’s goalless draw with Juwon Oshaniwa’s Hearts in a Scottish league match on Saturday. Oshaniwa was also shown a yellow card.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Emenike, who is on loan at Al Ain, hit target in the 65th minute for his UAE team in their 2-1 loss to Al Wahda. The striker has now scored three league goals for his side in the Arabia Gulf League.

Erstwhile Eagles star, Bartholomew Ogbeche, is one of the players outside the mainstream of the national team who were on target at the weekend. A brace from the Nigerian helped Cambuur earn a share of the spoils against Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie as the match ended 3-3. Another ex-Eagles star, Obinna Nsofor, proved that he could resurrect his career as he scored his first goal for German Bundesliga 2 side, Duisburg, in Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Union Berlin. He pounced on a pass in the 56th minute to bring the score line to 3-1. Ex-Nigeria U20 captain Abdul Jeleel Ajagun was Panathinaikos’ hero on Sunday as he scored the only goal to earn his team all three points against Platanias.

Ajagun has now scored two goals in the last two games for Panathinaikos. National U-23 team striker, Junior Ajayi, got his professional career abroad to a blistering start as he netted in Sfaxien’s 3-1 win over Gafsa on Sunday. That was his first match for the Tunisian side since he moved last week.

Also, West Ham’s Victor Moses and Odion Ighalo of Watford could not repeat their last week’s feat in the English Premier League as they were caged by their respective opponents last weekend. Moses started for the Hammers in their 2-2 draw with Norwich on Saturday but was a shadow of himself before being replaced in the 57th minute.

Ighalo played all 90 minutes for Watford but could do nothing to stop his side from going down to a 1-0 home defeat in the hands of Crystal Palace. Ahmed Musa who scored a brace for CSKA Moscow penultimate weekend could not replicate the form as his side was held to a 1-1 draw at home by Lokomotiv Moscow.

Anthony Ujah played 90 minutes for Werder Bremen but he also could not stop his side from collapsing to a 2-1 defeat at Darmstadt. Ogenyi Onazi was rooted to the bench in Lazio’s 2-1 win at Hellas Verona, the same fate Mikel Obi suffered in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw at Newcastle. Osaze Odemwingie was not even listed in Stoke’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
