Gabonese sets new Bundesliga record

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang became the first player to score in the first seven matches of a Bundesliga season as Borussia Dortmund drew with Darmstadt.

The Gabon striker found the net twice in eight second-half minutes after Marcel Heller put the visitors ahead.

Aubameyang leveled from Matthias Ginter’s cross after 63 minutes, before netting his 10th goal of the season from Adnan Januzaj’s pass.

Darmstadt’s Aytac Sulu hit a 90th-minute equaliser to secure a draw, reports the BBC.

Aubameyang last week set a record by becoming the first player to net in the opening six league matches of a German season.

The draw leaves Thomas Tuchel’s side four points behind leaders Bayern Munich, whom they face next Sunday.

The second-half introduction of Manchester United loanee Januzaj sparked the Dortmund comeback, but they could not hold on for a 12th win in 13 games this season.

Darmstadt, back in the Bundesliga after successive promotions, deservedly earned a point despite enjoying less than 30% of possession.

Dortmund travel to PAOK Salonika in the Europa League on Thursday, before facing Bayern.

Elsewhere, Hertha Berlin climbed to sixth after a late equaliser from Vladimir Darida earned a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Forward Alexander Meier opened the scoring in the first half with his sixth goal in six games against Hertha.
