Arsenal crush Villa to win record 12th title

Arsenal have lifted the FA Cup after cruising to a decisive 4-0 victory over Aston Villa at Wembley.

The Gunners have now won the trophy a record 12 times and manager Arsene Wenger has been in charge for half of them, now sharing the record for FA Cup wins with George Ramsay, who managed Villa from 1884-1926

Villa had made the 115-mile journey to the capital looking to win the FA Cup for the first time since 1957, but instead saw the London side coast to the biggest final win in 21 years.

Their hopes were dashed by a dominant Arsenal team, with Theo Walcott opening the scoring, followed by Alexis Sanchez, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud, who delivered the coup de grace.

It is the biggest win in an FA Cup final since Manchester United beat Chelsea by the same scoreline in 1994.
