Relief for state assemblies, judiciary as Buhari grants them financial autonomy

President Muhammadu is presiding over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) weekly meeting this Thursday after the meeting was postponed Wednesday, its usual date.

The Presidency had on Wednesday via its twitter, announced that the meeting was put off to allow for details to be finalised on the 2018 budget, which the Federal Government had earlier promised to present to the National Assembly for consideration by the end of October.

Meanwhile, the Wednesday meeting is taking place with the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau absent.

There are insinuations already that Dambazau’s absence at the meeting may not be unconnected with the allegations that he played a major role in the reinstatement and promotion of former head of the defunct Presidential Task Force on Pensions Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.

However, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo- Ita, who have equally been accused of playing a role in Maina’s reinstatement, were among members present at the meeting.
