The coach of the National Basketball team nicknamed D’Tigers, Alex Nwora is confident of Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the forthcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup holding in China.

Nwora is optimistic that his team will secure a ticket for the world tourney despite losing some of his players to injury with the fast approaching FIBA qualifiers scheduled to kick-off from 23 February to 25 February, 2018.

He revealed that much while speaking with the media department of the Nigerian Basket Ball Federation (NBBF) when he said; “It was tough to getting key players with leagues across the world already in full swing.

“Active players in their respective clubs who are available have been invited to represent Nigeria. We have a very formidable team that I believe will sail through during the qualifiers.”

Reports also revealed that the NBBF could not get some of the players for the qualifiers due to the new qualification format of the round robin tournament which grouped D’Tigers alongside hosts Mali, Uganda and Rwanda.
