Giving this assurance on Monday was the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola.

He spoke in Abuja during the Ministry’s budget defence before the Senate Committee on Power and Mines.

His optimism, he said, is derived from the fact that the distribution of power is no longer government business, but is now being managed by the private sector whether distribution, generation and transmission.

In a statement issued on behalf of the minister, the ministry’s Assistant Director (Press), Etore E. Thomas, was quoted as saying that the 2016 budget is expected to focus alot more on the transmission, completion of ongoing projects, refurbishing power plants and tackling gas supply issues.

The Minister, he stressed, noted that the ministry hopes to discharge its responsibilities in the area of policymaking while saddling the agencies and parastatals with the onerous task of implementing and executing policies as the case may be.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the Committee, Senator James Manager, impressed on the ministry the need to be ingenious in the way and manner it works to ensure efficient service delivery.
