The traffic congestion and disasters caused by tankers may soon be a thing of the past as the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has said that it now has the capacity to move petroleum products from various tank farms in Lagos to all parts of Nigeria.

Consequently the corporation has commenced talks with oil marketers in the country so as to forge a partnership that would allow for smooth transportation of the oil products.

Spokesman of the NRC, Abdulraouf Akinwoye disclosed this in a chat with Daily Trust in Lagos.

“We are moving petroleum products from Lagos to Kano, we are equally moving cement from Lafarge Company to all parts of the world.

As part of measures to beef up the manpower of the corporation to ensure seamless conduct of its activities, the spokesman said the corporation is currently recruiting 1500 junior staff in three different districts of the NRC.

“To really ensure total success of all our programmes that informed the ongoing recruitment exercise, to have the necessary workforce especially among the young folks, that’s the junior staff and what we are doing has been so transparent,” he said.
