INSECURITY: IGP is losing weight, so he is working hard, Buhari says

President Muhammadu Buhari, Sunday made light the security situation in the country saying the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammad Adamu, is losing weight, so he is working hard.

The President said this while answering questions from a crew of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, on his return from a 10-day private visit to the United Kingdom.

There has been an increase in the wave of insecurity across the country, especially in the Northeast where Boko Haram affiliated ISWAP has stepped up attacks on military bases and the Northwest where bandits and kidnappers have been having a field day.

The President, however, drew a correlation between the weight of of the acting IGP and his work rate to contain the growing insecurity in the country.

When asked about the security situation in the country, the President said: “I have just seen the IGP, he is losing weight so I think he is working hard”.

President Buhari also said that given his return from a 10-day private visit to London, he hoped that Nigerians would allow him to settle down and set up his cabinet.

Buhari wished Nigerians best of luck but declined to disclose what his new cabinet would look like.

On insinuations that he decided to travel out of the country so he could prepare the list of his second term cabinet, the President said: “I didn’t discus it with anybody so I don’t know how they got the information”
