Niger school feeding programme suffers setback
The Federal Government’s School Feeding Programme has suffered a setback in Niger State due to the poor management and unhygienic method of serving food to pupils.
The programme, which was expected to have commenced on September 25 in all public schools across the state, was delayed for one month despite arrangements put in place to ensure its success.
It was gathered that the FG had earmarked over N1.2bn for 859,480 pupils in 3,000 public schools in the state.
According to checks by Saturday PUNCH, the 7,170 vendors that were selected and trained for the exercise had not been getting the needed support to carry out the job.
