DSS arrests Obanikoro's wife, hands her over to EFCC over N4.7bn fraud

Months after he was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has returned to Nigeria from the United States of America, to honour EFCC invitation.

The EFCC had declared Obanikoro wanted over his role in the N4.7 billion allegedly expended on the 2014 Ekiti and Osun States governorship elections through the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, under Sambo Dasuki.

The money was alleged to have been sourced from funds meant for the procurement of arms.

Obanikoro touched down at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos from US enroute Amsterdam and headed for Abuja for his appointment with the anti-graft agency.

Aside Obanikoro, his two sons, Babajide and Gbolahan and a company belonging to them, Sylvan McNamara, are also being investigated by the EFCC.

The EFCC had said before now that it had obtained documentary evidences, including video clips to prove Obanikoro’s complicity in the whole affair.

The EFCC is yet to confirm if the former minister has reported to its Abuja headquarters.
