Policemen attached to me were sacked for resisting plot to assassinate me –Wike
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday claimed that six policemen attached to him, who were recently dismissed by the Nigerian Police Force, received such punishment for not allowing security agencies carry out their assassination plot against him.
Wike claimed that the six policemen had resisted and refused to allow the plot to kill him, a situation he explained, warranted the “angry and desperate” measure meted out on them.
Wike stated this when he received Aluu Council of Chiefs at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
He said, “The policemen were dismissed because they did not allow the security agencies to assassinate me as was planned. The security agencies planned to assassinate me. But those attached to me resisted the plot and refused to allow them kill me. That is why they are angry and desperate.”

The governor, who pledged not to give up defending the interest of Rivers State and its people, insisted that the last thing he will do will be to plead with the offending security agencies to stop their “illegal activities.”
Wike had days to the December 10 rerun elections in the state alleged plot by security agents to eliminate him.
He had said, “For me, they are threatening that I will be the first governor they will assassinate. They are threatening that they will show me that they are security agencies. But, I will always protect the interest of Rivers State, no matter the threat.”
Six police officers attached to him were later dismissed by the Nigeria Police Force on January 6 over alleged professional misconducts during the rerun elections.
