Zidane rooting for Marseille in Europa League final

Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane says he will be rooting for Marseille as they play against La Liga giants, Atletico Madrid in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman revealed that he grew up supporting the Ligue 1 club and hopes they can beat Real’s city rivals in Lyon.

“I’m hoping they can do something good in the final as I am and always have been a supporter,” Zidane explained in an interview with UEFA.

“When I was a youngster I was in the stands experiencing Marseille, so for that reason I wish them all the best for the final.”

The Marseille-born Coach also spoke of how important the game is for is his home city.

“It’s absolutely incredible for the city of Marseille and also for the club, of course, and it’s incredible for the players.

“It’s a football city that needs to experience these kind of emotions. Given what they’ve done in the past, they are a great club and they are playing in a major final.”

Real Madrid are also in the Champions League final against Liverpool at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex, Kiev, Ukraine on May 26.
