6 shops in Kebbi central market gutted by fire

About Six shops on the side wings of Birnin Kebbi central market were on Friday night razed by fire, affecting shops where agrochemicals and agricultural materials were being sold.

As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire outbreak was yet to be ascertained.

The fire was however contained by the swift intervention of the men of state fire service who stopped the fire from extending to more blocks in the market.

While most sellers, whose shops were affected, said they were still checking to see what they could salvage from the debris of the fire, they complained that goods worth millions of naira had been lostto the inferno.

The state Police and fire service are yet to comment on the incident.
