Barcelona signs Nigerian basketball star

Spanish top side FC Barcelona of Spain has recruited the services of Nigerian born-American basketball star Olaseni Lawal for the 2015/16 season.

Lawal who also holds a Nigerian passport, was an integral part of the success of Banco di Sardegna Sassari (Italy-Serie A) in the 2014/15 season.

He played 10 games for them in the Euroleague where he averaged 9.0 ppg and 7.3 rpg.

In six Eurocup games Olaseni was a board shy of averaging a double-double with 10.5 ppg and 9.3 rpg. He played 47 games in the Italian league and there he posted averages of 11.3 ppg and 9.5 rpg.

Lawal helped his team secure a Grand Slam in 2015, winning the Italian Cup, the Italian Supercup, and the Italian Serie A Championship. Expect him to be a force in the paint for Barca this season.
