Metuh petitions Judge to hands off trial

In a decision that may be interpreted as taking back through the back door what he allegedly took, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Tuesday afternoon, granted bail to the embattled National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, in the sum of N400m, the same amount the Economic and Financial Commission, EFCC, accused him of taking from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The trial judge, also ordered Metuh to present two sureties in like sum. Additionally, the sureties, that must be resident in Abuja, are also expected to swear to an affidavit of means.

The EFCC had arrested Olisa Metuh on January 5 and detained him for about 10 days before charging him to court. He was arraigned on a 7 count charge bordering on money laundering.
