Eight killed, 12 wounded as bandits attack Katsina town

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Sunday night attacked Danmusa town in Katsina State and killed at least eight persons.

Residents told journalists on Monday that five persons were abducted and 12 others wounded in the attack that lasted one hour.

The town is the headquarters of Danmusa local government area of Katsina State.

Residents described the incident as a reprisal attack following last weekend’s attack on the terrorists by operatives of the Katsina State Community Security Watch Corps launched recently by the government to check the activities of criminals in the state.

The spokesman for the state police command, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the attack

He, however, said five persons were killed in the incident.
