FG has saved over N200bn by eliminating ‘ghost workers’ –Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said the Federal Government has saved over N200bn by eliminating ghost workers from its civil service.

According to a tweet by @AsoRock, a verified Twitter account that informs the public on Federal Government of Nigeria’s activities, Osinbajo made the disclosure while giving his keynote address at the opening of the ongoing Open Government Week on “The Impact of Open Government Partnership to Nigeria’s Anti-Corruption Efforts.”

The Vice President said the Federal Government has set up the Presidential Initiative on Continuous Audit which is aimed at cleaning up the federal payroll and pension systems. He added that the government was ready to fight grand corruption and also create a sustainable system that ensures transparency and accountability.

The Open Government Week, which started on Monday (today), is expected to run through the week and end on Friday.
