TARIFF DISPUTE: EU fires back, imposes high import duties on US

A survey by the Koerber Foundation has revealed that Germans see President Donald Trump of the United States of America as a greater threat to their foreign policy than authoritarian leaders in North Korea, Russia and Turkey.

In the poll of 1,005 Germans of voting age, carried out in October, 56 percent of Germans described the relationship with the United States as bad or very bad.

Relations with Trump and the United States ranked second, with 19 percent describing them as a major challenge, followed by Turkey at 17 percent, North Korea at 10 percent and Russia at 8 percent.

The survey also revealed that topping the list of foreign policy concerns were refugees, with 26 percent of respondents worried about Germany’s ability to cope with inflows of asylum seekers.

Hours ago, one of Trump’s campaign promises was realised after the U.S. Supreme Court allowed his travel ban targeted at people from six Muslim-majority countries to go into full effect.

The decision by the Supreme Court means that people from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen seeking to travel the United States are now banned from entering the country.

Early last month, Trump’s travel ban was partially allowed into effect by a three-judge panel of the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals paving the way for the ban to go into full effect.
