Ighalo, Simon, Saviour, Otigba paint Europe with goals

Watford of England striker Odion Ighalo led the goal rush of Nigerian players as they paint Europe with goals at the weekend.

Ighalo gave the Watford hope when he pulled a goal back in the 41st minute before notching an assist in the 63rd minute in their 4-2 away win against West Ham in the English Premier League.

Ighalo was replaced by former Flying Eagles star Isaac Success in the 69th minute.

Also in England, Nigeria international Alex Iwobi returned from injury as he came from the bench in the 75th minute as Arsenal beat Southampton 2-1 at the Emirates.

It was the turn of Victor Moses who came in as a second half substitute for Williams in the 77th minute in Chelsea’s2-2 draw against Swansea City on Sunday while teammate John Obi Mikel was not listed for the game

Similarly, Super Eagles assistant skipper Ahmed Musa starts on the bench for champions Leicester City as they suffered a 4-1 loss to Liverpool.

In Belgium Moses Simon scored his second goal of the season in the 70th minute to help his Belgian side Gent overcome Lokeren 3-0 in a league game on Sunday while former Flying Eagles winger, Godwin Saviour, opened scoring for Belgian club KSV Roeselare as they recorded a 2-1 away win at front runners Lommel United on Sunday.

In Turkey, Kenneth Otigba who is under the radar of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, scored Kasimpasa’s only goal in their 3-1 defeat by Istanbul Basaksehir on Saturday.

Still in Turkey, Kenneth Omeruo made his debut for Alanyaspor as they held hosts Genclerbirligi to a goalless draw, while Emem Eduok was an 83rd minute substitute for Kasimpasa in their 2-1 away loss at Basaksehir.
