The Mainland Territorial Manager of the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) Dr. Asuquo Abianga has assured that the organisation is capable of generating over N3trillion to government coffers annually.

According to Abianga, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) tips NIPOST as a financial inclusion in view of its spread and ability to garner finances from the local communities.

NIPOST, he maintained, has no fewer than 1500 post offices nationwide, noting that there is no other federal establishment or institutions with such spread.

“The financial inclusion is targeted at the unbanked people, those who are not making effective use of the banking sector. Since the post offices are available in all the rural areas, we are well placed to serve all the banking sectors.

“NIPOST is in the position to contribute in salvaging the financial difficulties of the country. For instance, the Lagos Mainland territory made N75 million on stamp duty alone last year.”

He further hinted that if the Stamp Duty Act is fully implemented, NIPOST would be able to generate not less than N3.5 trillion to the federal government annually.

‘’Implementation of this Stamp Duty Act will not only generate revenue for NIPOST and by extension the federal government, it automatically authenticate your receipt in case of any legal dispute.”
