SHIITE PROTEST: Corps member serving with Channels TV dies from gunshot wound
A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving with Channels Television, Precious Owolabi, who was shot during a protest by Shi’ites at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, is dead.
The 23-year-old who was covering the clash between the police and the Shiite protesters, was shot during the crossfire.
Meanwhile, a Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at the FCT Command, Usman Umar, was also killed during the clash.
A communique issued by DCP Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, revealed that two Assistant Superintendents of Police were also injured in the clash.

About 3000 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) yet again took the streets of the FCT to protest the continued detention of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
According to the Police, the protesters who were heavily armed, abandoned all sense of decency and violently attacked innocent citizens and police personnel on duty within the Central Business District of Abuja.
The Shiite protesters also reportedly razed down a National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Response Post close to the Federal Secretariat, Abuja and two vehicles.
