Time running out for Jegede as A’Court adjourns indefinitely

Eyitayo Jegede still has to wait a bit longer to know whom between himself and Ibrahim Jimoh will stand as candidate of the PDP in the forth-coming governorship election in Ondo State.

Even as the different factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state are tackling technicalities in court, Ibrahim remains the party’s candidate for the governorship elections slated for November 26.

The Appeal Court on Friday indefinite adjourned the case over who is should be the party’s governorship candidate for the election.

The three-man court led by Justice Ibrahim Salauwa informed that its decision was informed by the action of some parties in the case who had submitted a petition against the panel at the Supreme Court.

They filed prayers to put a halt to all matters relating to the contest on who should represent the PDP in the elections.

Recall that the legal tussle had been set off by the ruling of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja who had declared Ibrahim as the authentic candidate of the PDP in that state, and ordered INEC to consequently deal with him on that basis.

Watchers of the situation contend that the legal battle would definitely take a toll on the chances of the party to present a formidable fight in the coming elections, as the party is spending more time in court, and little time on the campaign trail to woo Ondo electorate to vote for it.

But Jegede in a statement by Kayode Fasua, Head of Media and Publicity of his Campaign Organization, said “For us, there is no looking back. We remain resolute and focused in our desire to bring development, progress and prosperity to our people, this is our Article of Faith and with God, we will triumph”

Meanwhile, the electoral umpire says it is not swayed by the on-going legal tussle by the different factions of the PDP, but bent on going ahead with the election, as all is being put in place to ensure a hitch free exercise.
