TRUMP: Nigerians have no right to question my decision -Soyinka

Nigerian playwright and Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has said that Nigerians had no right to question the decision he took over the emergence of Donald Trump as president-elect of theUnited States.

He also stated that he will on January 20, the day Trump will be inaugurated as President, hold a private funeral.

Clarifying what he meant, Soyinka, who spoke in Lagos on Monday, said that the funeral will not be to mourn with the citizens of the US over electing Trump as president, but to mourn the death of Nigeria’s common sense.

“Our common sense is totally lost. I am embarrassed sometimes that I occupy the same nation space with some people,” he said, adding that Nigerians did not have the right to question his personal decision to tear his US green card.

He further castigated President Muhammadu Buhari for sending congratulatory messages to President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia for conceding defeat in the just concluded presidential elections in that country.

According to the playwright, Jammeh is one of the most despotic rulers on the continent, and that Nigeria can do without congratulating him.
Soyinka had stated prior to US presidential election that he was going to cut his green card should Trump emerge as US President. Nigerians, as soon as Trump won, took to social media, calling on Soyinka to cut his green card and leave the US.

Soyinka however, reportedly claimed on December 1, that he had already destroyed his green card.

Am I the only that thinks Soyinka does not deserve any crucifixion for whatever he must have said? During an election, people could say whatever they would just to have their own candidate win, and after the election, life gets back to normal.

The fact that he’s still a Nigerian makes him part of those without common sense, if he’s embarrassed being here, he should get out of Nigeria and relocate to another country, he should stop lamenting here

The idiot professor didn’t see Trump appointed a Nigerian in his economic team. Soyinka can’t even be appointed into the economic team of buhari.
