Worry about performance at Russia 2018, not get excited over new jerseys, Christian Chukwu tells Nigerians

Former coach and captain of the Super Eagles Christian Chukwu is livid at the euphoria surrounding the unveiling of the new kits for the senior national team for the 2018 World Cup taking place in Russia.

The ex-footballer fondly called ‘Chairman’ in his heydays said during a monitored radio programme on Brila FM that; “Nigerian’s should worry about the kind of performances that the Eagles will put up at the World Cup rather than get excited over the unveiling of new jerseys for Russia 2018.”

The goal keeping department still remains a worry for the team with Vincent Enyeama ruling himself out of the mundial while Ikechuckwu Ezenwa is expected to be back from the injury he cupped against Sudan in the semi-final of the just concluded CHAN 2018 tournament in about two weeks time.

The Super Eagles open their World Cup campaign with a crunchy tie against their group D opponents Croatia after which they play Iceland and complete the round-robin first round of matches with a fiesty match-up with Argentina led by Barcelona hit man Lionel Messi.
