You’re too old to be in active politics — Oshiomhole tells Ogbemudia

As Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia marks his 83rd birthday anniversary in Benin, Edo state, on Saturday, the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has told him that at his age, he needed good rest and as such should forget anything about active politics.

Oshiomhole noted that there was nothing more for Ogbemudia than to act like a father to all and continue to pray for the success of those governing the state.

He said as former military and civilian governor of the old Bendel and Edo states respectively, Ogbemudia contributed immensely to the development of the states in particular and Nigeria in general as he ruled with passion .

He added that apart from his style of ruling, ogbemudia also ensured that the collective resources of the state were doggedly managed during his tenure as governor of the then Mid-Western region.

Oshiomhole therefore advised the elder statesman to rise above petty politics and contribute to the development of the state and the country in general.

The event was attended among other dignitaries by Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa who delivered a public lecture titled: ‘Towards Sustainable Democracy, What is a political Party?’
