10 electricity thieves struck dead

Published

on

The Chief Risk and Compliance Officer of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Collins Chabuka, has stated that at least about 10 persons suspected to be vandals of electricity installations were electrocuted within the jurisdiction (AEDC) since January 2014.
He added that eight other vandals were arrested within the period and were facing trial in courts.
Chabuka, who spoke on Thursday in Lafia during a health, safety and environment sensitisation campaign, lamented the high level of the fatalities.
He said the campaign became imperative because the AEDC was very concerned about its customers’ welfare and as such it would continue to enlighten and interact with them to guarantee their safety.

He cautioned people not to patronize unlicensed electricians, saying that AEDC would not take responsibility for disasters caused by consumers’ illegal actions.
He disclosed that the company was working in collaboration with Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to curb the menace of vandalism of its installations.
AEDC covers the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger states.
