In from Olumide Olaoluwa …
No fewer than 3,000 aides that worked with 469 federal legislators in the 7th National Assembly almost engaged in a major showdown on Tuesday with management of the legislative arm over unpaid N9billion allowances.
It took the timely intervention of policemen to stop the angry former legislative aides from clashing with the management of the National Assembly.
Tensions over the restless aides of the 7th National Assembly caused the management of the National Assembly to draft in police operatives that mounted surveillance at the complex till late in the night.

Representatives of the aides who held a meeting with top officials of the National Assembly led by the Acting Clerk later agreed to meet again next Monday.
Hon. Al-Marooof Ajibolu, who led the aides, accused the management of a deliberate lack of transparency towards shortchanging them.
He stated that the Acting Clerk told them the National Assembly owes hotel bills and is broke.
According to him: “We met the Acting Clerk, the Director of Procurement and other officials but the director of finance was said to be away in New York.
“We asked when they were going to pay our severance benefits and how they are deriving the percentage of what they plan to pay us.
“We are truly suspecting that the hands of the monkey have reached the bottom of the pawpaw but presently, nobody can hide anything from us again.
“We still remain civil until they prove otherwise and we shall wait till Monday when anything can happen thereafter.”
